We are offering our dog sledding and winter horseback riding tours in the heart of Mongolia.  Discover Terelj National Park like an ancient Mongol warrior and enjoy nights in cozy “ger” – a traditional dwelling of Mongols for generations. Our itinerary comprises of adventures in the heart of the National Park including dog-sledding adventure, horse riding, nomadic family visit, and city break in Ulaanbaatar. Learn a traditional nomadic way of life and discover the joys of winter walking aided by huskies... a real Nomadic winter adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar city

Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar city, our driver and English-speaking guide will pick you up from the airport and be transferred to your hotel in downtown. After you settled in your centrally located hotel, we will start a city tour including visit Sukhbaatar’s square. The Square is in the centre of Ulaanbaatar, in front of the Mongolian Parliament House. Across from the central square, we will visit to the National Museum of Mongolia, the biggest museum with over 54000 exhibitions from the prehistoric period till the 21st century. Our next stop will be the Gandan Monastery: the biggest Buddhist pilgrimage center in Mongolia. If time permits, we will walk up to Zaisan Hill Memorial.  This hill provides a panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar. In the evening, we will go to Mongolian folk concert. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Terelj National park for dog sledding

After having breakfast at the hotel, our team will pick you up from your hotel, and head for our adventurous winter break in Terelj National Park. Approximately 2 hours of driving, we will reach the National Park, and be greeted by our dog sledding team and lovely Siberian huskies. Once we meet the team, the mushers will brief to confirm the order of the activities for today, and each sled is lead by a team of 4 to 5 dogs (2 to 3 dogs for children). We will journey through the valley surrounded by distinctive shaped stone hills and sled on a frozen river framed by dense willow forest. After approximately 3 to 4 hours of dog sledding excursion, we will visit to a local nomadic family in order to acquaint their way of life. Discover the art of the nomadic lifestyle and ancient survival techniques essential for long harsh winter in the heart of Asia. If time permits, we get a chance to ride Mongolian horses. At the end of the day, we will drive back to our ger camp and enjoy the evening under the serene sky full of stars. Overnight in a ger camp.

Day 3: drive back to Ulaanbaatar city

It’s time to say goodbye to your huskies and mushers. After having breakfast at the ger camp, we will drive back to the capital city. En route to the Ulaanbaatar city, we will visit to Genghis Khan’s Statue Complex; the biggest equestrian statue in the world with a huge golden whip, and world’s biggest traditional boot inside it, acquire Guinness World Records. We will arrive in Ulaanbaatar city in the afternoon, and you have time for visit to world’s number one cashmere store and Mongolian souvenir shops or relax in your hotel until dinner. In the evening, our farewell dinner will take place in a restaurant. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 4: departure

Today is the end of the Adventurous Winter Break tour. Our team will transfer you to the airport in time for your international flight. Have a nice trip back to your home and thank you for choosing ELT Mongolian tours.
